I graduated from Rice University, where I studied Sociology and Policy Studies. After graduation, I joined Teach for America and became an 8th and 9th grade English teacher for a population of predominantly EL students. As a teacher, I designed engaging and high-impact reading, writing, and STAAR-prep curriculum for both my middle and high school students--achieving among the highest exam performances in the district--, held remediation and reading-intervention sessions for students, and supported students on academic probation. Though I love all things English, I'm particularly passionate about writing/mechanics and English Literature. Through my time in the classroom, I developed a deep love for teaching and the firm belief that effective reading and writing are some of the most important skills one can possess. I believe all people are capable of academic success, and I approach teaching with calm, humor, and a deep appreciation for my students.
