My name is Pouya and I have a master's degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM).
I am very passionate about teaching. My philosophy is that teaching methods need to be customized for each learner, so I consider it my obligation to find different, more suitable explanations if my student has difficulty understanding a concept initially. I guarantee that my patient and creative teaching will make you reach your goals!
I have worked as the Head Teaching Assistant at UHM for the past 2 years where I was in charge of coordinating and teaching all undergraduate mechanics labs, as well as training and mentoring new graduate teaching assistants. I have taught more than 12 calculus based and the non-calculus based undergraduate mechanics courses at UHM. I also have 3 years of teaching experience at the University of Rochester and 2 years at the Spokane Falls Community College, and have taught middle- and high school students as well. I received 2 teaching awards from the University of Rochester and the University of Hawaii for excellence in teaching various physics concepts to both STEM and non-STEM students.
As a researcher and a computational astrophysicist, I am uniquely qualified to inspire you to see past classroom material, and understand it at a much deeper level, and see its real-life applications. (This is especially valuable if you are considering going into STEM!)
