My name is Dr. Jarrad Pond. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Physics (2009) and my PhD in Physics (2016) from the University of Central Florida (UCF), where I completed my dissertation on the subject of Physics Education Research. I then worked at the University of Georgia (UGA) for three years (2016-2019) as a Limited-Term Assistant Professor in the Physic and Astronomy Department. It is now my mission as a tutor to help students better understand the sciences and to provide students access to knowledge and insights about difficult subjects in school.
Much of my teaching experience is in physics. At UCF, I ran physics laboratory sections, helping students work through physics concepts not only on paper but with equipment as well, so I have knowledge of the practical applications of physics concepts. At UGA, I taught serval introductory physics courses, and so I am familiar with general introductory Physics 1 and Physics 2 curricula. As an experienced physics teacher, I am also proficient in the mathematics commonly used in physics (calculus, differential equations, etc.) and some engineering applications of physics (statics, dynamics, etc.).
As a tutor, I like to to customize the learning experience to my tutee. I ask my tutees to communicate with me how they learn best, and I then strive to meet my student's needs so that they get the most out of our sessions. Whether you need me to explain an entire lecture to you again in the way that best suits you or you simply need some guidance while solving homework problems (or anything in between), we can and will work toward success in your classes.
I look forward to helping you understand some of the more difficult concepts and problems in physics and mathematics. I will work with you, listen to your educational needs, and we will work together until you better grasp the material that is currently giving you trouble. I look forward to working with you!
