Hello! My name is David Rupright, I obtained my Bachelor's of Science in Secondary Teaching from Northwestern University, and my Professional Educator's License from the Illinois State Board of Education in the Summer of 2020; and I now have experience teaching World History, AP European History, United States History, and Financial Literacy at the High School level. I led and co-led AP European History and US History classes in my student teaching experience, and I have taught World History, Financial Literacy, and US History at Ombudsman Chicago West High School. My focus subject is History, and History is my passion; but I am also an avid reader and love incorporating diverse and varied resources and disciplines into my teaching, no matter what subject it is. In addition to my experiences as a High School Educator; I was an Assistant Teacher at a Summer School in San Francisco (where I'm from) in 2017 and 2018, in classrooms ranging from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade; and I have been an assistant teacher in Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development's weekend and summer enrichment programs. There I have worked with young people of all ages, from Kindergarten to Eighth Grade, and have Assistant Taught subjects such as Debate, Government, and Robotics. Additionally, I have been a tutor at two community programs on the North Side of Chicago focused on literacy, where I worked with Fourth and Seventh Graders. I believe in centering students' passions, providing accessible and engaging content, and building strong relationships and a resilient learning environment. I am confident tutoring any and all Social Studies Subjects at the Secondary Level; and still remember myself the particular challenges of standardized testing. I have taught Test-Prep Classes in each of the past couple of years, and have developed my own curricula, strategies, and methods with which to approach these Tests. In my Classes, I maintained the high level of academic rigor needed to achieve high scores on ALL sections of the ACT and SAT; and I adapted and differentiated the learning to be more accessible, engaging, and fun for students! My Mother is a college counselor, my Aunts and Grandparents are Professors and Teachers; education for me has always been a family business, and I look forward to working with you and your family!
