As a reading specialist with a Master's degree in reading and certified Wilson Reading Practitioner, I adeptly apply research-based strategies in teaching students to read.

I know first-hand Wilson Reading works for children and adults who are struggling with phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension and fluency.

I use Wilson 'Just Words' for students in grades 4-12 and adults who have mild to moderate gaps in their decoding and spelling proficiency but do not require intensive intervention.

Wilson Reading is a multi-sensory program for students beginning in grade 2 through adults.

Wilson Reading is very specific for those with reading and language difficulties who need intensive instruction.

Using award-winning literature to enhance vocabulary, comprehension and fluency with middle school students invites them to love reading.

Award winning titles include: Beyond the Bright Sea, Fever 1793, The One and Only Ivan, The Birchbark House, Diary of Anne Frank and Dragon's Gate.

The literature provides a springboard to examine history, culture, vocabulary, science and social studies.

Students actively question, debate, analyze, synthesize and evaluate using literature.

Writing:

Students must have foundational skills in English grammar and mechanics to write clearly and coherently.

Students need to write responses to questions and learn the following types of writing: expository, narrative, persuasive and descriptive.

Reading is the act of decoding a message. Writing is the act of encoding a message.

Guiding students in reading, writing, thinking, speaking and spelling is my vocation.

Proficiency with these skills is a life game-changer.
