Greetings! I am a cell and molecular biology major and chemistry minor at Fort Lewis College, and I love science. As a laboratory Teacher's Assistant, Ecology Club president, and Writing Center tutor at my college, I have helped many students develop their writing capabilities and knowledge of STEM fields. I am accustomed to working with learners from all walks of life, and all levels of learning-- from elementary school to graduate school. Students of all nationalities and primary languages have come to me for writing help, and left our sessions with the skills that they needed for college level classes. As a part of my major, I have taken math all the way up to college level calculus and am certified to tutor this subject as well. For those interested in Biology tutoring, I have extensive experience working as a student researcher in microbiology, virology, and genetic engineering. I perform research on HCMV (Human Cytomegalovirus), a lethal form of herpes virus which kills 60,000 people per year, and have a separate project testing caffeic acid derivatives for use against chalkbrood disease. I'm also president of SEEDS club (Strategies for Ecology Education, Diversity, and Sustainability) at my college which is the flagship program of the Ecological Society of America. For fun, I love to swing dance, read, cook, and do science experiments. I also love to help people with their writing and get underrepresented minority students involved in the STEM research community. I'm excited for us to work together! See you soon.
