I offer one-on-one tutoring for struggling readers using the Orton-Gillingham approach. I focus on reading and writing and provide multi-sensory instruction for each lesson to keep students engaged and active members of their learning efforts.
I was previously a classroom teacher for grades 1-5 in all content areas. I am trained and classroom certified in the Orton-Gillingham approach which helps students with reading, writing and spelling difficulties. The OG approach uses repetitive, sequential and multi-sensory instruction to re-wire the neural pathways so your child can go from "coding" words to reading, writing and spelling words with automaticity.
I am trained in the Woodin Math approach. This is the only math curriculum targeted for dyslexic and struggling math students. it employs the same best practices that are used to address reading struggles. The system promotes conceptual and procedural understanding through alternative modalities, multi-sensory methods, and support for auditory processing and executive function challenges.
Repetition and multi-sensory instruction is absolutely vital for effective learning- especially with students with learning differences. I would love to learn more about your child and see how I can help. Every child deserves a fair chance at reading at a young age. Early intervention is key!
