I am currently a biology student studying at Grinnell College. I am very passionate about biology, particularly in the marine sciences (I love talking about fish), but have experience tutoring students from elementary through high school in a variety of subjects including biology, algebra, pre-calculus, writing skills, and reading comprehension.
Within the past few years, I have spent countless hours performing biology research. From working at a cancer research laboratory at one of New York's largest research hospitals to performing marine conservation research off the coast of South Africa, I have explored a wide range of research opportunities which I incorporate into my tutoring.
As a science major, I myself have had several moments throughout my academic career where I have struggled in various subjects, so I understand how frustrating these moments can be. With the help of professors/tutors, online resources, and hard work- I believe academic success is always possible.
I approach tutoring with a focus on understanding the student's unique challenges and gaps in knowledge, and encourage students to think independently while offering support when needed. In my free time, I am often outside hiking, rock climbing, or diving, as well as enjoy spending time playing my violin.
