A highly STEM-oriented tutor, Lucas received a BA from his undergraduate Carleton College in 2016 and an MS from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities in 2019. He has tutored for over 6 years, with several different companies as well as privately, in areas of test prep as well as upper-level math and science.
After obtaining his master's degree, Lucas secured a position in a research laboratory and largely stepped away from tutoring. After 8 months of rigorous laboratory work, however, Lucas realized what was missing from his new occupation: the young scholars, with whom he wished to share his knowledge of math and science. He has since returned to his favorite occupation, using unique strategies tailored to individual students to help them boost grades and test scores. Although he profiles as a STEM-oriented tutor, he is a very strong reader and writer as well and has helped myriad students increase their scores across all sections of the ACT and SAT, as well as the PSAT.
In high school, Lucas was a member of the Scholastic Bowl and Quiz Bowl teams, the latter of which received a silver medal at the 2012 National Skills USA Convention. He was also a regular participant in the math, science, and international culture clubs. Today he enjoys skiing and hiking - weather permitting - and songwriting, wherein he uses his mathematical prowess to write songs with unusual time signatures.
