I am a patient, kind elementary school teacher who has recently moved to New York from London. In London, I taught 4th and 5th grade for three years and I have extensive experience planning, teaching and assessing daily English and math lessons. I look forward to moving from a class of 30 to small groups/1:1 tutoring so that I can really focus on what each individual student needs!
I studied BA: Spanish and History at University of Southampton where I achieved a first class honors. This included one year studying in Spain and I am fluent in Spanish (C2 CEFR level.) I then received a distinction in my post-graduate teaching degree at Canterbury Christchurch which certified me to teach Primary Education (all subjects with a specialism in languages) age 5-11. I also recently achieved a merit in a 168 hour Level 5 TEFL certificate enabling me to teach English as a second language.
I am passionate about learning languages and my favorite subjects to teach are English and Spanish as I think languages offer so many opportunities to create engaging lessons where students can be creative, discuss important topics and discover other cultures.
I have found that students make excellent progress when they are motivated and engaged in their learning. I try to chose topics/texts that will interest my students and often use games/songs to help my students remember key concepts. My students loved times tables games to help them remember their key facts!
I am available to teach English, math (elementary level) and Spanish and I look forward to helping you learn.
In my spare time, I enjoy running, hiking and baking. I also love travelling - I have visited many different countries around the world and I have had an amazing time so far in the US exploring the mountains and scenery that the USA has to offer.
