I am a student teacher at the University of Northern Colorado, where I study Elementary Education. Throughout my time at UNC I have had many opportunities to teach elementary school students. I spent two semesters in 2nd and 4th grade where I gained experience creating and teaching authentic and engaging lessons. I am now in my student teaching experience where I teach kindergarten at an immersion language school. I am endorsed in ESL (English as a second language) and have experience working with students who are not proficient in the English language. I love working with students helping them grow as a learner and a person.
I tutor all K-6 subjects (Social Studies, Science, Reading, Writing, Math). I also tutor ESL and Spanish 1. I love all of these subjects but I especially love science and math. The problem-solving aspect of these subjects gets me excited. I enjoy finding unique ways to teach kids, finding ways to present a subject to students that will stick. I believe strongly in conceptual learning and teaching. I believe it provides the greatest outcome and long term success. I want students to connect to subjects and in time, take charge of their own learning.
In my spare time, I love being outdoors. I am a classic Colorado girl! I love anything that gets me moving. I absolutely love skiing and rock-climbing. I also have an interest in cooking, I like to experiment with new recipes and even create my own.
