I am an undergraduate at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL and am working towards a bachelor's degree in Political Science.
In the past, I have taught reading and math to young students, as well as math to middle schoolers.
For the most part, I tutor reading, basic level math, writing, and Spanish. I tend to enjoy tutoring reading and math to younger clients because I have a lot of creative space to teach the material in a variety of ways. For example, I sometimes improvised addition games when I had extra time with a student. Although I have more experience with teaching younger kids, I am also capable of tutoring older students as well.
I like having an idea of a student's capabilities in a topic and building up on their skills from there. I also like getting to know the student over time, and understanding how they best learn a concept. I try to think of ways to make the subject as interesting as possible.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy watching movies, playing sports, and penny boarding. Specifically, I play tennis and have gotten decent at ultimate frisbee. As for penny boarding, it's something I picked up recently and have enjoyed so far.
