I am an educator. While I say that I am an educator, I take into consideration that there are many vocations (and situations) in which people not considered educators are, in fact, educating. In any role in which one person is instructing another person in how to do a job, a task, or an objective, one person is educating and the other is being educated.
With that said, I will state that like medicine and law, I submit that education should be considered practice. If it were not, all people would learn the same way, at the same pace. This is not the fact.
I am a radical educator and take the profession seriously. That does not mean I take myself seriously, I don't. But Education can be fun and should be valued much more seriously than it currently is in our culture.
That's my personal statement.
