All students can learn, and I enjoy helping them do so successfully! The best part of teaching is that moment when a student sees their progress and realizes all their dreams really can come true. I've been working with students with special learning needs for over 20 years in Reading, Writing, and Math as well as elementary Science and Social Studies. I enjoy teaching all these subjects, each for different reasons. Reading and writing go together and for me bring real joy. I relish the chance to open that door for students so they can see the endless possibilities there, too. I struggled with math myself as a kid, so I've gathered lots of resources to help students figure out math in whatever ways connect best with their brains. Science is fun, especially when we get to design and conduct experiments! Social Studies is learning about stories of other people in the past, in our neighborhoods, and around the world. All learning is interesting to me, and I like sharing my passion for learning with others. I got my Bachelor's degree in Nursing, then, when I found teaching was something I enjoyed, I got my Master's in Elementary Education, and a few years later I added permanent certification in teaching students with learning handicaps. In my spare time, I enjoy reading fantasy novels, playing board games, and watching videos from various sources.
