I'm here to help! I am, and always have been, passionate about learning and teaching S.T.E.M. I have always had a natural understanding of mathematics and science all throughout my schooling and beyond. I first fell in love with chemistry, specifically, when I took the subject my sophomore year of high school. I also fell in love with physics and math, specifically calculus, in high school. I attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received my Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry in 2017.
At Rensselaer, I worked very heavily on our iPERSIST mentoring program for physics, calculus, and most specifically, chemistry. I have helped directly, and indirectly, tutor much of the Rensselaer class of 2020/2021 as well as write the tutoring and mentoring curriculum used by other mentors. Before college, I tutored many different students in chemistry and several areas of math.
My favorite subjects to tutor involve any and all forms of math. I appreciate analogies when explaining math to students because understanding any subject is easier when you can connect it to real life experiences. I also appreciate teaching chemistry and physics because they explain the natural world as we see it and understand it. When tutoring, I truly believe that everyone is good at something; everyone can be a specialist, but it is important to also be a generalist. Tutoring to student weaknesses is important in order to help people be a better generalist and a more well-rounded student.
Outside of tutoring, I have a passion for music, singing, and acappella. I also love skiing, hiking, and water sports in general. I recently have gotten more into disc golf as a fun and casual outdoor sport. I grew up playing lacrosse as my main sport and hope to coach someday. My favorite book series is, most definitely, the Percy Jackson universe created by Rick Riordan. I have always had a passion for mythology, even as a young child.
