For me, teaching is a process of humor, habit creation and not taking oneself too seriously. I have a significant amount of experience coaching high-school, undergraduate and graduate students. I initially took on coaching and facilitating workshops as an opportunity to broaden my professional network. I was quickly taken by the enthusiasm and inspiration that I gained from the students, especially those who were gaining confidence and making new intellectual connections through our work together.
German specific notes: I have spoken German for 19 years. I learned the language through immersion living in Germany after high school. I majored in German (and political science) in undergrad and took on projects in my professional work after grad school in Germany. I have tested through a C1 level and teach German 1-3 at a state university. I use TPRS methodology and believe strongly in comprehensible inputs. I work tirelessly with students to determine which materials work best for them. I focus on highly-used verbs and vocabulary.
In my free time I play a lot of tennis, last summer I played on three teams and did well enough to level-up after playing at the same level for several years. Woot!
