I am a native speaker of Japanese, growing up in Tokyo, Japan. I worked in a privately-owned language school prior to moving to the States. I have experience in teaching and tutoring internatiomal students in Japan and Japanese language learners in the States. I was also a host sister/host family of one of the international students in Japan. I earned my AA degrees and BS degrees in the states and obtained a California State Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I, thus, speak English as well.
I can relate myself well with Japanese language learners as I learned English as a foreign language and I am patient. I am also aware of the challenges Japanese language learners encounter including but not limited to pronunciation, intonation, grammar, reading comprehension, communication/speaking, and listening.
I provide students with textbooks/textbook pages and send them lesson materials/pages/notes to review in their own convenient time after each session via email with free of charge unless students decline it. My textbooks are Basic Japanese with Kana and Kanji practice, Elementary Japanese 1&2, Conversational Japanese, AP Japanese and Culture,
JLPT N4-N1 and Business Japanese to meet different needs of each individual student. I also welcome resources, suggestions, and textbooks students and parents can provide to enhance the learning of students. I am flexible to modify my lesson plans to better assist my students, help increase their love of learning Japanese, help them gain confidence, and help them reach their goal.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, and friends. I also enjoy spending time with my sister who visits me from Japan once a year. I love video-chatting with my family in Japan on Skype, gardening, tasting food from different countries, and helping those who need help with their Japanese.
It is very rewarding and enjoyable to help people of all ages and levels reach their goal in learning Japanese.
