I completed my BA in Chemistry with a minor in Math at Vanderbilt University in 1992. I then completed a PhD in chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla California in 1998. After a short Post Doc at Shands in Gainesville, I started a family and launched my teaching career in Hillsborough County Florida in 1999.
I taught many different science and math courses over my 17 years in Tampa, Florida. I was on the charter staff at Newsome High School in 2002 and won teacher of the year in 2004. During 10 years as Science department chairman, I taught primarily all levels of chemistry including AP and dual enrollment, but also taught other science classes such as Earth Science, Astronomy, Biology, Physical Science, etc. For many years, I taught night school math and GED prep and on weekends, I taught SAT math prep courses.
While I am now retired, I score state assessments for Pearson part time, tutor in my community, and enjoy spending time with my family.
