My name is Benjamin. Since a young age I have always excelled at mathematics and loved to learn more about it. As time went on, I took more and more opportunities to put myself on the fast track for math, whether it was learning multiplication in second grade, taking Pre-Algebra in 6th grade, taking Geometry over the summer, or taking college level math courses for my senior year of high school. I craved to excel at it. However, it was disappointing to me that others didn't share my enthusiasm for the subject, or outright detested math. As such, I would often use my free time in classes to help them with the subject and better understand it. Even at this young age I was able to help many students quite easily. However, I can't say all experiences went so perfectly. However, I never got discouraged, and tried to keep this advice in mind: "if someone with ADHD and Aspergers such as myself could master math, then anyone should be able to learn it at the very least." I used this belief to foster a patience and endurance to help anyone who truly wishes to learn math, no matter how long it takes them. Not by giving them the answers for the easy A, but by giving them the proper instructions and tools they need to understand it. I want to make it so math isn't something feared by students, but seen as a tool that will help them in their everyday life as adults.
