I have over ten years' experience working as an ESL teacher, both in the United States and abroad. My students have hailed from a wide range of countries and backgrounds, and educational goals. Throughout my career in TESOL, I have had some wonderful opportunities to cross geographical and cultural boundaries, something which I believe stimulates me both personally and professionally. From living abroad in Japan, to traveling to numerous Asian countries while living there, to working closely and developing friendships with my students here in the U.S.A., I have had the opportunity to learn about other cultures first hand. I believe these experiences have also helped me to reflect upon my own culture, and become more sensitive to the individual needs of each of my students. My philosophy of teaching is influenced first by a concern for the student's goals and expectations in learning English. My goal is to structure my teaching to meet those ends.
