I am a graduate of San Diego Christian College where I received a Bachelor's in Liberal Arts with an emphasis on English Studies with a minor in Theology. Through this university, I also obtained my Teaching Credential in English, Secondary. Since then, I have subbed through the Grossmont Union High School District for the past few years, both in the general education and special education.
I have also worked closely with many charter schools such as Literacy First Charter in every capacity from substitute, to ELL tutor, Coach, and Preschool Advisor.
I have also had the opportunity to work closely in one-on-one settings such as IEP and AEP within the GUHSD and Literacy Schools: this has allowed me strong interpersonal skills and meeting students' needs in a more in depth and focused method.
I have always believed that learning is not one-size-fit-all, but should be tailored to each individual student. We all learn at different capacities and for this reason I have chosen to work with Varsity Tutors and bring my know-how and experience to students in a more personal and tailored curriculum that will ensure their learning and success.
When I am not teaching, I'm more often reading and writing, so much so that I often read multiple books at once from Stephen King to Maggie Stiefvater. Writing too is very important to me. Like all art forms, it takes practice and I tend to write a lot. Some of my short fiction has been published in minor presses. But, both these are often sedentary hobbies, and when I'm not doing either I'm off lifting as a amateur weightlifter.
My hope in all this is to ensure potential students that I am skilled, ready, and eager to provide my services in encouraging, building, and leading students onward to one success after the next.
