I am a 3rd year undergraduate student at Scripps College in Claremont, CA, where I major in American Studies (interdisciplinary), and minor in Psychology. I currently intern at a domestic violence shelter, tutoring children ages 5-17. I worked as a Lead Teacher for a 2nd/3rd grade combined Sunday School classroom, and wrote daily programs and activities for a unit of sixty 7-9 year-old campers at summer camp. In addition to working with elementary-aged school children, I also serve as a Youth Group Advisor for high schoolers, and have helped with Essay Writing/Editing, College Application assistance, and SAT Language and Reading prep--in various capacities--for at least 3 years.
When working with young children, I assess their learning style and interests in order to create lesson plans and syllabi written specially for your student.
For older students (middle school, high school, adult learners), improving writing begins with reviewing previous assignments and pinpointing primary difficulties. The next text is exposing ourselves to many various writing styles--through curriculum created specifically for our tutoring purposes.
My strongest areas of study are in the English language (writing, grammar, standardized test prep!), and also AP and college-level US government, but I am here willing to work on whatever the student is interested in learning this summer.
