As a recent college graduate I understand the importance of finding the right mentor and overcoming the fear of asking for help. This is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about tutoring students and helping them on their educational journey. After working with several students, I understand that every person learns differently. Therefore I personalize every tutoring session and make sure that everything covered by the student is understood and not just memorized for exam.
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in Food Science in Technology after my gap year. During my time at Guilford I was a varsity athlete and a member of the Bonner Scholars Program for community service and learning. This led me to starting up and participating in several tutoring and mentoring programs.
I worked primarily with students from elementary and middle school enrolled in summer camp, after-school tutoring and STEM mentorship programs. I have also worked with high school students through college prep conferences, many of who are from refugee and immigrant communities or represent different minorities in the Greensboro area. I have now returned to my home country of Nicaragua and continue to be a passionate advocate for education and help guide students through their studies.
