Hello, I am Norah. I received my bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Miami in 2017.
Although my degree is not in teaching, it is something I love to do. I worked at a summer camp with a child with Autism. In addition, I worked as an academic interventionist in Miami Dade County. Through these experiences, I have worked with children of all ages. I am currently getting my Masters in Secondary Education from Johns Hopkins University while teaching in a DCPS high school.
Being a Florida transplant, tutoring children across the DMV is a great way for me to get to know the area.
My favorite subjects to teach are English and reading. I love teaching reading and writing to ALL ages and intelligences! These are my favorite because the intricacies of the English language are very interesting once one understands them. I remember struggling with the language and the "aha moment" when it finally clicked. However, it is just as fun to help students in sociology, statistics or any other math.
I believe every student can learn, however, the material should be presented in a manner that best makes sense to them.
When I'm not tutoring I love to listen to music. I play the saxophone and clarinet, so I am often transcribing songs for these instruments. Lastly, I love sports! I enjoy watching them with my family and friends. My favorite sports are basketball, soccer and football. Fun fact: I flew out to Boston JUST to watch Paul Pierce retire his jersey. I'm a DEDICATED fan.
I can't wait to help you reach your fullest potential.
