I'm a Texas-certified teacher and have been teaching for nine years, which includes public school, private school, and volunteer experiences. I am certified in the following areas:
Bilingual Generalist EC-6
I am 100% bilingual (native-like fluency in Spanish), and I studied abroad in Spain during my time at UT Austin. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, and my minor was in Biology. I also was pre-med, and completed all of the prerequisites for medical school before changing my mind and deciding to become a teacher.
Teaching is my passion! I am currently a High School Spanish teacher at a local school district. I have also taught Middle School Math (5th, 6th, and 7th grade), all subjects in Elementary School Bilingual Education (3rd grade self-contained: Math, Science, Reading & Writing, Language Arts, Social Studies), Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten. I also currently teach private Spanish classes to homeschoolers, as well as private piano lessons. My favorite subjects are Math and Spanish, and I have experience tutoring College Algebra as well. One of my specialties is creating catchy songs to aid in teaching Elementary School Math and Middle School Math! My students have loved the songs because they really help with retention of important concepts. I've also created songs for Elementary School Science, and Spanish as well.
I love to read, and I enjoy helping kids improve their reading levels. I am also an avid writer, so I know I can inspire you to become the best writer you can be!
In addition to traditional academic subjects, I am available to teach piano, guitar, and voice. My musical background includes leading worship for the youth service at my church every Sunday. I studied voice and piano under multiple teachers as elective courses during my time at the University of Texas at Austin. After college I continued to study piano, guitar, and voice with private teachers before deciding to branch out on my own and take in my own students to teach. Currently my youngest piano student is 3 1/2 years old, so if you have a 3 1/2 year old or four year old, it's never too early to start!
I look forward to helping you succeed, and cheering you on to accomplish your artistic and academic goals!
