Graduating college, I was accepted into Teach for America and taught high school biology and chemistry while being a corps member. I taught 150 students from underserved and low-income backgrounds. My students were not only diverse in their race, but also in their learning styles. This required me to create individualized lessons within each daily lesson to differentiate the overall objective. I always tell my students that I am also a student who is continuously learning and growing. My students became the teacher and they would teach each other within small-groups during review sessions.
I enjoy tutoring because there will always be a need for education, even if it is not in the classroom or an academic institution.
My students at my previous high school scored the highest passing and exemplary percentage rates in their Houston school district for the Biology STAAR in 2016 and in 2017.
My students are always encouraged to contact me via cell phone or email, whatever it may be. I will make my schedule work with yours as I know times can be very busy. I look forward to working with you!
