Greetings! My name is Brianna and I have always had a passion about the "oh, I get it now" moment. My passion started in high school. I completed a four year early childhood development program and earned a CDA (Child Development Associate). This required volunteering in a local elementary and being a teacher assistant for all subjects. My final year in the program I had to pass five written exams and an oral exam to earn a CDA. I then graduated high school with honors and attended Miami-Dade College on a scholarship and earned an AA (Associates in Arts).
I then transferred to the University of Florida to earn a Bachelors in Biology and graduated with Cum Laude. During my time at UF, I was apart of the Chemistry Outreach Club and would interact with students in the fourth grade at a local elementary. I selected hands on experiments to do with the students and did research on the corresponding experiment ahead of time. I would then demonstrate the procedures of each lab thoroughly and assisted the students when needed. I had to elicit creative thinking by converting a higher science level language, into a more comprehensible version.
I also was apart of the Gator Youth and Fitness Movement Club. I participated in the outreach program of the group. I helped weekly at a local elementary's gardening after school program. Taught children about the benefits of gardening and how to maintain garden beds. I assisted in picking ripe vegetables with the children and bringing it back to the cafeteria to make a healthy meal. Overall, I have always found a way to contribute to my community through the power of education and cannot wait to continue that as a tutor!
