3+ years experience as a college professor. 10+ years as a tutor. 5+ years in the lab.
I received my graduate degree from the California Institute of Technology in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. Afterwards, I spent 4 years working as a research scientist and simultaneously holding a part-time teaching position at the local community college.
My students have said they enjoy my ability to connect the information to tangible ideas. And my always present enthusiasm for the material.
My method is to ensure that the student(s) comprehend the material beyond the scope of 'passing the test'. To facilitate this, I ask students (at an appropriate level) to critically evaluate their methods of reasoning and always look for ways to bring in outside material. Once a basic understanding of the material is grasped we can then work to understand the fundamentals of why and how it all comes together.
-I expect students to come in ready to learn and with an open mind.
-I am dedicated to making sure students are engaged in the material by drawing connections to various topics to help with learning and comprehension.
