Hello everyone! My name is Gabriel, but most people call me Gabe. I'm currently a 5th year Ph.D student in biomedical sciences at the University of Florida. I am pursuing a thesis related to immunology and pathology of type 1 diabetes, specifically how interferons modulate pancreatic beta cell homeostasis and mitochondrial function.
I have been tutoring a variety of subjects for many years now. As an undergraduate student, I had a unique opportunity to tutor my fellow peers and colleagues on different subjects, ranging from Spanish I (as I am a fluent Spanish speaker) to advanced topics, such as Calculus and Genetics, with everything in between. I have a specialty in teaching the physical sciences, such as Biology and Chemistry, and have taught many students at the high school, college, and graduate level.
I believe in not only empowering the student to feel a sense of achievement when they discover or learn something, but to also help simplify difficult concepts so that the student can understand the information and use it later on to synthesize and construct their own ideas.
