I am a senior Computer Science student at the University of Washington. I strongly believe that any skill or area of knowledge can be gained through persistence, hard work and the right teacher! I teach on subjects ranging from geometry to SAT test prep. My favorite subjects to tutor are math based subjects because I believe most students are half as intelligent as they give themselves credit for and I enjoy watching them have their AHA moment, where they realize that they CAN be successful (in a subject that they used to be "bad at"). My teaching philosophy is to teach my students to be critical thinkers by providing a safe place for them to ask questions, and get answers wrong thereby empowering students to trust their intuition and problem solving skills. I believe that I best serve my students by teaching them to have a "growth" mindset, teaching them that much like any skill knowledge and aptitude must be developed over time and are not fixed qualities. My hope with all my students is that they eventually stop needing my help! Outside of school and work I can be found at the gym, or with my nose in a book.
