I have a Ph.D. in computational biology from the University of New Mexico, and just finished my postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. My job is to simulate drug delivery to tumors, and look at genes involved in tumor growth.
I am shy, but love outdoor sports like rock climbing and skiing. I also have a wacky sense of humor when you get to know me. My other hobbies are knitting, reading, yoga, listening to and playing music and singing, and spending lots of time with my family.
In the past, I have tutored junior high and high school students in math, and I have taught college undergraduates in biology as well. I also have a four-year-old, and that is teaching every day!
When tutoring in biology, math, chemistry, and science, I like to see students understanding from the bottom up. The only way we can advance our knowledge is to understand the basics first. When we see how the chain of concepts builds up to a bigger, more abstract picture, it can be really beautiful!
