I am a graduate of Brigham Young University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I became interested in teaching when I started volunteering at my children's school and substitute teaching. In 2010, I became a Texas certified teacher, and I am currently teaching 1st grade. I previously taught pre-k, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. I tutor students in elementary reading, writing, math, and science. I am passionate about teaching children to learn to read with phonemic awareness and then teaching them to read to learn with a greater level of comprehension. The joy of helping children understand a skill that was once difficult is very rewarding. Not all children learn at the same pace and style. I love teaching students according to their strongest learning style, whether it be visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. My goal is to help each student reach their potential by being a facilitator and guiding each one with different learning strategies. When I have time, I enjoy reading, hiking, painting, and crocheting.
