"I have worked in technology and studied Computer Science for a total of four years. In high school, I wanted to become a Graphic Designer so I taught myself how to program using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. After graduating high school, I attended San Francisco State University and majored in English with a minor in Political Science while taking courses in HTML, CSS, Javascript, UNIX/Linux, and Python Programming. That course in Python Programming was life-changing for me as I realized the possibilities of creating a complete system with a backend or server-side technology. I realized that as a Full Stack Engineer, I would be capable of taking any of my ideas and building them out to be utilized by the people every day through the Internet. This realization led me to begin technical training at a programming bootcamp in NYC called DevBootcamp. I learned to solidify my knowledge in HTML, CSS, and Javascript; while also learning Ruby/Ruby-on-Rails and Web/Application Development at DevBootcamp. Since then, I have worked professionally for about four years now as both a Front End Engineer and a Back End Engineer for start-ups and corporate environments where I have had exposure to various work environments and technologies. At J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. I was made a point-person for my team and was responsible for managing a small team where my associates would have access to me as a resource for their coding issues. I have also led technical reviews and technical demonstrations. I have developed company websites and web applications, worked on eCommerce platforms, built APIs, built and maintained databases, built administrative dashboards, handled and manipulated various data structures and algorithms, and debugged various coding issues. Now, I am launching my first business as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of my start-up - The Promise: Fellows and Enterprises. I am with Varsity Tutors, because I am looking to teach and provide myself as a mentor in order to create networking opportunities and also provide internship or fellowship opportunities with my company to interested students. I love networking and meeting new individuals. I have provided guidance, teaching, and mentoring to all ages of students - professionally with adults and as an after-school activities counselor to junior high students. My passion for technology, reading, writing, and politics drives my own personal pursuits to obtain a graduate Master's degree in Public Policy. I believe that knowledge and education is the best method in developing your career by setting goals, benchmarking, and accomplishing your goals. After graduating university education, I am now doing my own independent research whenever I want to learn how to do something. Independent research along with corporate, group, or project research help me to grow as an individual and social impacter. The purpose of my tutoring methods hope to instill that philosophy of independent and project research is a quality that you will carry through your lives; especially so with the growing dependence on the Internet as a resource and the reality of personal development after completing your university education. I tutor the following subjects: Basic Computer Literacy, CSS, College English, Computer Science, English, English Grammar and Syntax, Essay Editing, HTML, High School English, High School Writing, JavaScript, Linux, Mac Basic Computer Skills, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, SQL, Technology and Computer Science, and Writing. I am seeking to unlock your potential. I do so by understanding you as an individual and understanding your passions and interests; potentially creating projects related to our tutoring subject that could be turned into real life public-reaching campaigns or business platforms. As far as advice: I would start by saying, "Always read with pens, pencils, highlighters, and Post-It notes around you. Notation is an integral part of being a great learner." Outside of my work life, I enjoy casual music and entertainment. I have a fascination for physics - quantum and astrological; and I tend to read and follow the latest discoveries in science. My perspective is: "We live in a conscious state where we do not know things or concepts until we experience those things which change our perspectives and visions." This means we are always learners as we develop; we take in information and make decisions based on that new information. Being an independent person means you are capable in maintaining your life and reaching your goals. I hope we can work together soon! Regards, Alexander"
