For the past 17 years, teaching and tutoring has taken me around the world. With this vast experience, I believe I have a lot to offer any student seeking extra help.
Starting out as an Elementary teacher, I have experience teaching in our toughest inner cities, suburban and rural areas. As a result, I have learned how to create engaging, relevant and specific lesson plans.
Teaching English in China peeked my interest in pursuing ESL, where I received my first Master's in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). This opened doors to not only continue teaching ESL in our K-12 schools, but also college level courses and currently adults wanting to improve their English skills.
With my second Master's in Bilingual Special Education, I was able to mentor other teachers and help differentiate between learning issues and language acquisition issues, which is a difficult area to diagnose for many K-12 schools.
Eventually, my experience took me overseas where I taught several years at an international school in China. During this time, I not only gained valuable experience teaching students of other cultures, but I developed a deeper love of tutoring. Even now, I mentor overseas students with the writing process for college application essays.
There is no doubt that I offer a lot of experience for any student and I look forward to helping you become independent in your skills.
