Looking for an experienced tutor? Here is why you should select me.
Last year, I was a long term substitute fifth grade teacher at Groveland Elementary School in the Central Bucks School District. At Groveland, I planned and conducted instruction in all content areas to twenty three students with diverse learning needs. During the 2015-2016 school year, I was a long term substitute sixth grade teacher at Charles Boehm Middle School, in the Pennsbury School District, where I taught science and social studies classes to one hundred twenty diverse students. I was also a long term substitute gifted support teacher at Sol Feinstone Elementary School, in the Council Rock School District, where I taught second, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade gifted classes. In addition, I was a long term substitute sixth grade teacher at Maureen M. Welch Elementary, in Council Rock, where I was responsible for a thirty student homeroom/ELA class and mathematics classes for ninety students.
In prior school years, I was a long term substitute teacher at Cold Spring Elementary, in Central Bucks, in a third grade general education/autistic inclusion classroom, and a long term substitute teacher in a second grade classroom at the New Hope-Solebury Lower Elementary School.
As a result of these teaching positions, I have extensive experience in lesson planning, classroom management, Responsive Classroom and Positive Behavior Support methodologies, whole group, small group and one-on-one instruction, formative and summative assessment techniques, differentiated instruction, and parent communication. Moreover, one of my greatest strengths is forming positive connections with students, parents, and fellow staff members.
I graduated in May 2013 from the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education, where I received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. My time at Penn included student teaching in first, fourth, and fifth grade classrooms in an inner-city public school, an inner-city charter school, and a suburban private school. I recently took the English 7-12 Praxis examination, scoring 194 out of 200, and have my English 7-12 certification.
Earlier in my career, I had been an attorney for fourteen years. While I was very successful at my job, ultimately I did not find my work to be rewarding. To fill this void, I began volunteering more and more at my children's elementary school. I took so much joy from volunteering at their school that I ultimately decided to become a teacher, which has been one of the best decisions that I have ever made.
I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss a potential tutoring position with you.
