Since receiving my master's from Harvard, teaching has been at the center of my academic and professional career. While currently pursuing a PhD at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, I am designing and teaching a course on religion and politics for the fall of 2018, to coincide with the midterm elections. Part of my preparation for this occurred in the summer of 2017 when I led a contingent of seminary students to Capitol Hill in Washington, DC to learn about faith and public policy, human rights, pluralism, judicial and executive power, and to lobby congressional leaders on environmental justice and immigration reform. I currently work as a writing instructor for the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. Previously, as a master's student at UC Santa Barbara, I co-taught introductory courses in Chicano and African American studies. Prior to that, teaching took me to Seoul, Korea where I worked as an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor in the Cheongdam-dong district, teaching American and world history. Returning to the US, I continued teaching in the Korean context at the Academic Center of Excellence in Dublin, CA, focusing on English, History, Debate, and SAT prep. Before Korea, my time was spent as the Head of School/Principal at the Eliot Educational Center in Boston, MA.

Hobbies

I'm a self-proclaimed (and die-hard) comic fan. I'm drawn to thoughtful solitary hero comics, along with, of course, the current blockbuster Marvel and DC films. You can also find me at any number of film festivals that feature documentaries, international films, and independent projects. Some of my favorite music genres are house music and blues.
