My interest in History dates back to middle school when I had a boyhood fascination with weapons and warfare. For Sustained Silent Reading I would read World Book Encyclopedia and try to find out new things about different countries from all over the world.
This fascination continues today with my interest in histories of disenfranchised cultures, the history of philosophy, the history of empires, the history of film, and study of Western and Chinese classics.
What I hope students may learn from studying History is that there is a process to every series of world events, and that the events we study impacted real everyday people like you and me. With a wider perspective on history, we can become more highly engaged with the world around us, because we will have already known where we homonids have been.
