I practice the Socratic method of tutoring. I don't give students the answers; I ask them probing questions to gauge their level of understanding and elicit the correct answers from them. When they're wrong, I ask students why they're wrong. This makes them independent thinkers and boosts their confidence. Preparing for timed, standardized tests requires a unique skill set. I teach students to use mental math, logic, and common sense to improve their time management, which leads to higher scores. Since 2018, I have helped 27 students pass the AFOQT, 14 pass the ASVAB, and 10 pass the TEAS and HESI exams. My most recent TEAS student earned 100 on the math section. I've always loved math and helping others boost their math skills. I have tutored pre-calculus and calculus in my college's math lab, volunteered as a private math tutor, and worked as a college algebra instructor. For fun, I read the dictionary and do crossword puzzles. This has expanded my vocabulary and enabled me to help students increase their verbal scores on tests like the ASVAB, AFOQT, TEAS, and HESI. Students praise my tireless patience. I'm never judgmental when students struggle with even the most basic math problems. I encourage them to ask questions until they fully understand the material. I do not view tutoring as a job. It is my passion and my opportunity to give back to others. The biggest reward for me is seeing a student reach that "a-ha" moment. I would consider it a privilege to help you achieve similar results. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
