A bit about my background: I received a B.A. in English from Vassar College and a M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Western Michigan University. I have experience teaching reading and writing from the middle school level to the university level. I taught a composition course at Western Michigan University for two years and worked at the Writing Center there as a consultant. I have experience teaching literature, as well as test prep.
My teaching style is informal and fun. I believe a strong rapport with students is a very important aspect of effective teaching. However, informal and fun does not mean I am not thorough and do not expect my students to put in a serious effort. My approach is collaborative: we will learn together as a team.
In my spare time, I continue my education with online classes. I enjoy studying languages, traveling, and dabbling in mixed media art. I love the outdoors and hiking, especially in the fall. I also run a blog dedicated to providing high school and college students with resources to aid in their success.
Thank you for your interest, and I hope we can work together soon.
