I am currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at a University based Children's Hospital. I am well known for my abilities to creatively problem solve, find elusive diagnoses for patients, and teach others to do the same. I am a favorite of families, patients, residents and students as I often hear "I have never learned so much from others!" from each of these groups.

I am convinced that learning must be fun, the tutor must be creative and able to inspire confidence, and when these characteristics are present memorable learning moments will occur. The student through hard work and interaction with the tutor can then succeed not only at learning a complex subject, but while being tested also!

Through my experiences in teaching medicine, math to the level of calculus, Chemistry, Quilting, Tap dancing and even religion I have enjoyed interacting with students in all walks of life. I first began tutoring in early elementary through both my school and the school my mom taught at. I have essentially tutored forever!

I have real life experience working with learners to find Ah-Hah! Moments, to break through times of frustration and to incorporate fun so that the learner is able to use the EXPERIENCE of tutoring to improve understanding, memory, confidence and a sense of mastery. On testing day, this translates into improved performance both through a greater level of knowledge and competence as well as through a decreased level of anxiety. I am eager to share my love and passion of learning, combine it with fun and create light bulb moments with your learner!

I enjoy tutoring all ages and many subjects, but I enjoy test prep tutoring the most. The reason I enjoy test prep so much is that it allows students to maximize scores and opportunities for admittance into programs much more than solo study. The tutor can be relied upon to help the student when there are multiple correct choices, but the BEST must be chosen. This causes anxiety for many test takers. If anxiety is increased, there is good data that test scores decrease and do not show the actual skill of the test taker. Tutoring all subjects is fun, but, helping a student make the next leap to their next endeavor in life is remarkably rewarding!
