Hi! My name is Grace and I am currently a graduate student at Boston University pursuing a dual degree - Master of Science in Medical Science and a Masters in Public Health. I received my bachelor's degree in Molecular and Cell Biology with a minor in Nutritional Science from the University of California Berkeley in 2016. My future goals include attending medical school and have particular interests in cardiology and oncology. Ultimately I aim to become a physician with the skills and knowledge needed to affect positive changes in healthcare across many communities.
I have tutored friends and family since high school and now hope to reach a greater number of students, helping them develop the academic skills needed to succeed. I am very comfortable tutoring many high school and college level subjects especially in preparation for the graduate level Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). I especially enjoy tutoring in the sciences including general and organic chemistry, biochemistry, physiology and cell biology, and others.
My ultimate goal for all of my students is to become independent students. As a tutor, I aim to not give answers but to help the student find the answer on their own. I enjoy fostering a supportive and helpful environment for developing critical thinking and analysis skills as well as honing skills needed for subjects that may require brute memorization. I tutor through less lecture and myself talking, but through active participation with the student for a more engaging learning experience. I understand that everyone learns differently and through having taught a wide variety of students and am flexible, I am able to adapt to a wide variety of teaching styles and student needs. I hope to share my passion for science and learning with my students, cultivating their own motivations and drives for fields they are most interested in.
When I'm not working or studying, I love being in the great outdoors. Hiking through the mountains and relaxing on the beach are some of my favorite things to do. I also really enjoy staying active! I definitely feel a healthy lifestyle incorporating a nutritious diet and exercise are key aspects to reducing stress and maintaining a happy and positive persona during busy times of the year.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read more about me! I'm so excited to work with you!
