I am currently a sophomore at Carnegie Mellon University, working towards a Bachelor of Science degree and majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
I have a lot of experience working with students from elementary to high school. I've worked at a science museum for three years teaching kids biology, physical science, chemistry, etc through scientific demonstrations and experiments. I really enjoyed working as a teaching assistant at Math Plus Academy for a year where I've helped kids from elementary school to high school with a wide variety of mathematical concepts.
I tutor students in SAT Subject tests, Algebra 1, Pre-Algebra,Geometry,Trigonometry,Writing, English,Essay Editing, Spelling, Elementary School Math, Computer Science, and Technology. I love teaching and working with students on pre-algebra, algebra and operational math problems because it's amazing to see their advancement and boost of confidence in the concepts after showing them a few techniques and skills.
I strongly believe that education is about the desire to learn more, not the obligation. Every student has a different learning style and level of knowledge, and my goal is to help them find their learning style and strengthen it. I aim to tailor my tutoring style to the needs of the student. I teach concepts by working through practice problems to find the student's weak areas so that I can work with them on the areas they're confused on instead of re-teaching what they already know so we make effective use of limited time.
Outside of academia, I find a lot of joy and relief in playing instruments, doing yoga, and painting.
