I am a recent graduate of Macalester College with a degree in Chemistry and a minor in biology, with an emphasis in biochemistry. I will soon be beginning a PhD program in chemistry as well. While a student, I worked as a supplemental instruction leader for organic chemistry, leading students in practice problem sessions and helping them with difficult aspects of organic chemistry. In my senior year, I worked as a tutor on campus, tutoring subjects including general chemistry, organic chemistry, cell biology, genetics, and occasional related math courses. I am a certified level 2 tutor from CRLA (the College Reading and Learning Association). I am passionate about science teaching, communication, and outreach, and hope someday to teach chemistry as a professor. I love helping students with subjects they previously struggled with, and fundamentally believe that science and math don't have to be scary. My tutoring focuses on helping students to find new ways to solve problems, and to change their way of approaching a difficult problem and make it less daunting. In my spare time, I love to read, spend time out in nature, and cook.
