I am currently heading into my junior year at The Ohio State University. I am studying chemical engineering with a specialization in biochemistry. I graduated from Orchard Park High School in 2015 with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors; mastery in science and math. I am very passionate about helping students succeed because I believe everyone should have a chance to dream big and achieve anything they put their mind to. I love having the ability to give back to the community and helping others achieve their goals gives me that opportunity. I have had previous tutoring experience in high school math, mentoring for the Ohio State Chemistry Department, as well as mentoring for my scholars group at the university. Through my mentor positions I helped guide students through general chemistry and other general courses. I have also been employed as a teaching assistant for the Department of Engineering where I helped students understand the material that was presented on a day to day basis. My teaching style includes using many world examples to help the students understand how certain topics apply to them and the world around them. I also like to use practice problems that check specific concept are being understood by the student. I typically start by asking the student to explain in their words how to approach a specific problem or concept and then work from there to see how we can enhance that understanding through different teaching approaches, examples, and practice problems. I currently have experience tutoring middle school and high school math, chemistry, and biology. Other hobbies and interests outside of tutoring include playing saxophone and piano, hanging out with friends, and sitting down to read a good book.
