Learning is a lifelong pursuit of mine, and something I continue to do on a daily basis. Whether it's learning Spanish or learning to fly, I love trying new things and mastering them.
I grew up in Michigan where I attended Interlochen Arts Academy in high school, majoring in creative writing. It was there my love of learning and helping others really blossomed. And from there, I made my way to the East Coast, where I attended the Hartt School and got my BFA in Creative Communications. During my time in college, I tutored and helped many students in English, writing, grammar, and ACT/SAT prep. It was one of my proudest moments watching the students I tutored grow and excel in areas they worked so hard in.
After graduating college, I was selected as a Fulbright Awards Finalist (designated alternate) to the Philippines, and learned Filipino in preparation. Though I ultimately didn't end up going, I learned a lot through the grant process and got to learn another language too!
I eventually made my way to NYC where I worked in theatre for a few years, then to Princeton, and finally to Austin, TX. While I'm not tutoring, I enjoy working with kids, rowing, cooking, gardening, playing the banjo, and learning how to fly (I'm currently working towards getting my pilot's license)! My greatest passion is making films, which is what I pursue full time outside of tutoring. As someone who grew up with a lot of influential teachers in my life, I know the importance they play in children's lives. I am a super motivator and love helping kids accomplish their goals. Nannying on and off for the last 10 years has taught me patience and kindness, and the best way to reach kids. I'm confident I can help your child learn, motivate them, and drive them to accomplish their goals.
