I am proud DePaul alum currently taking and academic leave to pursue entrepreneurial interest. I have had a life long dream of owning my own cookie empire. I plan to continue tutoring while building my empire, until I return to school to complete my degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Spanish.
I have been a tutor for so much of my life. I first tutored my cousin at age 8, as he was preparing for preschool and later again at 11 as he prepared for kindergarten. He is on the Autism spectrum and my Aunt and Great grandmother were beyond frustrated at his lack of progress under their instruction.
I was a tutor for the entire summer after graduating 8th grade and throughout high school. I have tutored in the inner cities, private home based groups, from ages 2 to 18. I have tutored in subjects from phonemic awareness and alphabet familiarity to beginning Spanish vocabulary, and I love every minute of it.
I especially enjoy the "Ah Ha!" moments, Every time a 3 year old shocks herself by remember all 26 letters. Every time a 16 year old raises her grades from a D to a B. Every time an 18 year old writes a rocking college entry essay that he never thought he could.
I am partial to tutoring younger ages, as I want to make sure that my subject knowledge beyond adequately aids the student. But I look forward to helping as many students as I can become avid life long lovers of knowledge.
