I am a writer and UCSB graduate who has always had a penchant to fully study anything I did not understand or anything I found myself or others assuming.
In college, I had a rather intense focus on conceptual learning and honing interpretive skills in subjects such as epistemology, metaphysics, and literary courses of all subjects from neurological theories on creativity to Supreme Court cases on free speech.
In addition to this, however, I was sure to engage with fact-based, hard subjects along the way, to avoid becoming too abstract or impractical in thought. These subjects included linguistics, Japanese history, US history, calculus, and many others.
My favorite authors include Italo Calvino, Jorge Luis Borges, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and Samuel Beckett.
