I graduated from the Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with focuses in communication and American studies. Then I continued my education in a post graduate program at the University of St. Thomas where I earned my certification in education (EC-6 grade), English as a Second Language, and Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities. In this program, which was a partnership with Teach for America, I learned how to facilitate objective driven lessons, communicate specific content, collect data to track the retention of knowledge, manage the behavior of students, collaborated daily with colleagues and other professionals, and open my classroom space so that others could learn from my successes and mistakes. In addition to classroom skills, I worked on staff in Teach For America - Houston for two years as a Manager for Teacher Leadership Development where I had the opportunity to support and serve for 13 campuses, 22 corps members, and 287 students across several communities in the Northside. I was more than up for the challenge of bringing my mirror to students that represented the historic communities such as Acres Homes, 3rd & 5th wards, and East Downtown (EaDo) as it was going through gentrification. I got an opportunity to real time coach, unit and lesson plan, data mine with great intention and inspire my Corps Members to lead from a VISION that convicted them. I was also doing this same work in San Jose, California as an Assistant Principal in my second year at Rocketship Education where I manage 12 educators for 2 years. Currently, I own my own business in private tutoring and iconography.
