My hope in education isn't simply to ensure the academic success of the student, but to animate what I believe to be the hidden interests of all students for the subjects they study. This involves a hopeful personalization of study, in which subjects pursued and topics researched start from the student's individual desire to do good work and perform well in the classroom and on tests. This method of teaching was something that I had the opportunity to experience during my undergraduate education at both Sarah Lawrence College and the University of Oxford. It was at both institutions that my work truly became my own, and I realized that academics can be as creative and fulfilling as anything else.
