Bonjour and bienvenue! I recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mary Washington where I majored in French and Anthropology and minored in Middle Eastern Studies. My passions lie in language, cultural difference, and the social world where these elements interact with one another. As part of my undergraduate career I studied abroad in Paris and this life-changing experience has inspired me to go back to France in order to pursue a master's degree in social sciences this fall.
Having studied French for the last 10 years in both France and the United States, I bring a wealth of experience to each tutoring session. Oftentimes, classroom instruction lacks a global and cultural context for language and it is this aspect that I hope to provide for my students so they gain a larger understanding of and passion for French.
I have already tutored French at the college level when I worked in the Academic Services department at the University of Mary Washington. I mentored students across various levels in French and worked with each one to prepare a specific learning plan to ensure their success in class.
As your French tutor, I would customize lessons to best fit your level of experience - whether you are a beginning speaker, or if you already possess knowledge within the language. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or to schedule a lesson!
